Mechanical ERW Tube
As-Welded Mechanical, Tubing is probably the most popular and versatile tubular product. It is ideally suited to applications where concentricity and uniformity of wall thickness are important.
A513 Type 1 Mechanical ERW Tube
Characteristics
ASTM A513 Type 1 tube is produced from low carbon steel. Typically available in hot rolled black, hot rolled, P&O. Tubing with walls heavier than 18ga is produced from hot rolled steel. A513 Type 1 is produced to closer dimensional tolerances than A500 and chemistries that allow for bending.
Applications
A513 type 1 tube is used for furniture, storage racks, machine components, fences and more.

A513 Type 2 Mechanical ERW Tube
Characteristics
Produced as A-513, Type 1 and 2 in the as welded condition and furnished in 1008 to 1015 steel, it is the lowest cost mechanical tubing available. Wall thickness 18 gauge and lighter are produced from cold rolled steel. Heavier than 18 gauge is produced from hot rolled steel.
Applications
A513 Type 2 Mechanical ERW tube is used in environments where cosmetically appealing surfaces and light weight are required. Examples include display racks, furniture, greenhouses, exercise equipment, and many others.
